Jonathan
Light resides in New York City, where he works as an actor, director and editor in film and theater. He is currently the Creative Director of Nature's Edge Productions, a new company devoted to films and videos that promote environmental advocacy and awareness. He recently served as a a segment producer and member of Shoot the Messenger, a new show by Lizz Winstead, the creator of the Daily Show. He is also the post-production supervisor for Tech Ticker at Yahoo! Finance in New York City, and is a freelance editor and camera operator for several companies. On the theatrical front, Jonathan has served as an assistant on the Off-Broadway production of Neil Labute's play "Some Girl(s)," starring Eric McCormack and Fran Drescher, and was the Assistant Director on "Hamlet," at TWAS Productions in Harlem, a production that starred Timothy Stickney and Petronia Paley. Some acting work includes the feature film "Lady in the Water" and the role of Robert Lincoln in the play "The Last of Mrs. Lincoln," which he also co-directed.
Jonathan received his Post-Graduate
training as an actor at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic
Art (LAMDA), where he was awarded the Lee Strasberg Scholarship.
While in London, he worked with directors from the National
Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company. He has also trained
with Larry Singer at Michael Howard Studios in New York.
In a former life, Jonathan was a
classically trained singer, and has appeared in The
Marriage of Figaro, Die Fledermaus, and The
Pirates of Penzance. He has worked with Lorraine Nubar
at the Juilliard School, as well as with Kurt Ollman at the
Bowdoin Summer Music Festival, where he was the youngest singer
ever accepted into the program. He is also the only singer
to win the Hartwick Summer Music Festival's annual Concerto
Competition.
Jonathan
grew up in Cherry Hill, NJ and attended Rutgers University,
where he earned his Bachelor's degree in History. He is a
highly proficient pianist and guitarist, and is also an avid
rock climber, having climbed in England, Wales, France, Colorado
and, of course, New York.
